Cabra is found in the Geographical Center of Andalusia and in full nature reserve of the Subbetica Saws, a city with great monumental patrimony, mostly originating in the baroque one, traditions and festivals, guarded by saws, spring and natural spots of great importance.

Due to its Geographical situation, and its network of lodgings that goes since the most equipped you marry rural to the hotels of three and four stars, Cabra becomes a point of superb departure to know Andalusia, therefore the beach, the leisure and the monumental tourism wait for us an average of an hour of this southern city of Cordoba.

Water and marble constitute an important binomial in the history in this city, knowing settlements since the prehistory. The Egabro, Roman city of great importance, initiated the exploitation of the floor in search of the so prized red marble in the construction of columns, stones and sculptures; or in the white stone, both presents in the facades of the houses and monuments of this city.

Juan Valera

Cabra was the birthplace of the internationally renowned author Juan Valera, who carried the name of his hometown all over the world, during his work as an outstanding diplomat and politician. The 'Valera' route takes us back in time to XIX century Cabra, the city of Valera, as depicted in Pepita Jimenez or Juanita la Larga. These works take us to the most representative places that filled the life and work of our universal writer. We can stroll in the 'Circulo de la Amistad', the 'casino', as the old San Juan de Dios convent is popularly known, the house where Valera was born, with its elegant limestone facade or the Real Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, that cherishes the famous writer's personal library.

The dishes of our kitchen rotate around two key items: the land and the water. The garden and the saw unite to provide a culinary wealth without equal.

Of the garden, fresh vegetables will serve us to devise: paved, messes, gazpachos or the typical espinaches with chickpeas.

Of the saw, tasty meats and typical preparations that become exquisite delicacies for own and strange.

And our table would not remain complete without the candies, which they cannot lack. According to the time of year they will pass for: 'gajorros', fritters, candy of quince, porridge,... and for all the year the exquisite 'Bizcotelas' of the Agustinas Mothers.

Different festivals fill the life of this city emphasizing the Holy Week by trying the greater sample of religious art in the streets. And, of course, the festivals in Honor of Maria Santisima of the Sierra, patroness of Cabra, from 3rd to 8th of September. Both festivals are declared of National Tourist Interest.

The remainder of the year is complemented with several celebrations that go since the passing Magicians Kings Cavalcade for Carnival, pilgrimages, Festivals of Neighborhoods (Swastika, Bethlehem, Medieval Festivals in the Village, San Antonio in the Low Gardens, festivals of Gaena, ...), Corpus Christi, Fair of San Juan, etc. until arriving at Christmas.
